The Seepark Hotel is situated in a unique location between natural and urban living spaces, presenting numerous challenges for its architectural design. Meanwhile, the hotel project features complex functions—it must not only meet people’s needs for communication and interaction but also provide private spaces for rest. All these factors have influenced the design of the Seepark Hotel. Today, the hotel has become a highly sculptural landmark here, confidently defining the intersection of the city and nature. The building complex separates the busy South Bank Avenue from the newly created natural space of the Lund Canal Lagoon, with part of the structure embedded into the terrain.
The design inspiration for the hotel’s "bubble facade" also derives from nature, with its unique structure echoing prototypes found in numerous natural examples. This organically shaped facade is made of lightweight, high-strength aluminum composite material, consisting of two aluminum panels and a mineral core.
The geometric stepped facade at the hotel entrance reflects its business hotel identity. Designers have integrated the hues of wood and shrubs into the facade, while abstract expressions of tree and grove structures are evenly incorporated into the stepped design.

Within the framework of the Brisbane City Council Planning Scheme, the design team strives to create a mixed-use development integrating retail spaces, a five-star hotel, Grade A office towers, and high-quality residential buildings. These structures are closely interconnected through a cohesive material palette and a vision to foster a high-quality, attractive pedestrian environment for the broader community.
Given its nature and scale, the project will exert a significant impact on the existing urban fabric. 300 George Street is designed to forge a visual, architectural, and poetic connection with the river, aiming to deliver a new, transparent, user-friendly, and well-organized urban landmark. It establishes a dialogue with the Riverside Expressway and the Brisbane River through a large-scale poetic architectural expression.
The retail podium features a predominantly glass curtain wall equipped with sun-shading devices, enclosed by an artistic screen with a folded and undulating form to reduce heat load. Its design symbolizes Brisbane’s street trees and jacarandas. The riverside section is equally symbolic, embodying the flow of the Brisbane River and the undulations of the Riverside Expressway.
The tower faces south, toward Brisbane’s cultural precinct in the southern part of the city. Its form not only addresses the site constraints effectively but also reflects the aspiration to echo, integrate with, and showcase the charm of the Brisbane River. Adopting a geometric petal-shaped design, it exudes a bold, avant-garde, and almost psychedelic ambiance through striking patterns and colors, while subtly incorporating riverside motifs.
The core area of the W Brisbane hotel retail mall shines under stunning ceiling and balustrade installations. The hotel’s main entrance showcases iconic columns paired with a reflective ceiling and lighting fixtures, creating a distinctive visual effect.
