2026 Trend Color Design: Dancing White on Clouds, Crafted with Soft Curves

2026 Trend Color Design: Dancing White on Clouds, Crafted with Soft Curves

Pantone, the global authority on color, has recently unveiled "Dancing White on Clouds" as its Color of the Year 2026. A soft, lightweight shade of white, it carries subtle warmth and an airy quality—neither distinctly warm nor cool, embodying both the purity and translucency of white and the gentle, natural texture of the outdoors.

Regarded as a visual sanctuary, this hue symbolizes calm, serenity and creativity, encouraging people to seek inner peace amid the chaos of modern life and return to a state of focus and relaxation.

"Dancing White on Clouds" is not a flat, pure white. Instead, it combines a pearlescent base with the delicate undertones of morning mist blue, exuding a soft, flowing luster reminiscent of drifting clouds when caressed by light.

We believe that color has the power to transform creative spaces and serves as an exceptional design language. Color and architecture are inherently intertwined. What kind of experience will it bring when "Dancing White on Clouds" is applied to building facades? Let’s wait and see, and savor its charm.

Dominion Office Building

The Dominion Office Building is located in the southeast of Moscow—a key industrial and residential area of the city where the creative and internet technology industries are booming. Designed by Zaha Hadid prior to her passing, the Dominion Office Building is among the first batch of industry-supporting structures in this district. The project is adjacent to the Dubrovka Metro Station and public tram stops.

In terms of its appearance, however, Zaha’s design here appears remarkably restrained. Whether viewed from the front, side, at close range or afar, it all looks “too conventional”—giving an impression that it is not characteristic of her typical style.

The main structure of the building consists of a series of offset floors stacked upon one another, with the curved elements of each floor linking them into a cohesive whole. What is particularly impressive is that the horizontally layered facade adopts iridescent pearl-white aluminum composite panels as the building skin material. The aluminum composite panels’ advantages—low weight, high strength, superior flatness and excellent processability—undoubtedly made them the favored facade material of Zaha Hadid, the Queen of Curves, adorning the entire Dominion Office Building to resemble a sleek, silver-clad spaceship.

Inside the building, the terraces on each floor cantilever out toward the atrium, echoing the telescopic profile of the external facade. The highly sculptural staircases connect all floors through the hollow core area. The alternating flowing lines are like dancing piano keys, performing a magnificent black-and-white symphony.

Qingdao Siemens Innovation Center
The Qingdao Siemens Innovation Center, situated in the Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark, is Asia's largest passive house technology experience project. Co-constructed by the Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark, Germany's RKW Architektur +, the Passive House Institute (PHI) Germany, and the China Academy of Building Research, the building takes the form of a boulder atop Laoshan Mountain, boasting unique flowing lines and a sense of rhythm—like frozen music emanating a charming tempo and melody that captures people's attention.
Composed of overlapping buildings, the Innovation Center exudes great momentum, resembling a piece of fine jade that blends seamlessly with the surrounding scenery. Its design concept is inspired by the lively and winding "stream", highlighting the modern rhythm and artistic atmosphere of the experience center and sparking boundless imagination. On the facade of the experience center, six irregular white-gold "ribbons" encircle horizontally, made of lightweight yet high-strength pearlescent iridescent aluminum composite panels. The precious gold softens the luster of pearls, creating a gentle and exquisite design sense.

The project adopts a large number of micro-hyperboloid designs, with over 800 unique panels, no two of which are identical. As the installation location is in the balcony and corridor area, both the inner and outer surfaces are visible. The unit panels are processed and manufactured in a box-type combination, further increasing the difficulty of processing the hyperboloid of the aluminum composite material. The minimum radius of curvature of the hyperboloid panels in this project is 1800mm/4000mm, and no flanging is cut. Each panel installed on-site maintains a smooth fit, fully demonstrating the quality and processing performance of the raw materials.
The final height of the building is consistent with the planning concept of the 8 pebble-shaped functional areas in the Qingdao Sino-German Ecopark. They set off and integrate with each other, fully displaying the philosophical beauty and environmental beauty of the building, and perfectly interpreting the concept of "looking up at the sky and overlooking the earth". The design of the community entrance also continues the hotel-style public area experience, with its shape echoing the curved elements of the facade. It adopts two-story high champagne gold aluminum composite panels in line with the overall design, paired with carved grilles, delivering a high-texture homecoming experience in a subtle way.

Wanzhong Qujiang Liuguang Yungu is located within the administrative jurisdiction of Qujiang, Xi'an. Nestled in Qujiang New District—a site of a renowned imperial garden from the Tang Dynasty and a national-level cultural industry demonstration zone—it sits at the core of the second phase of Qujiang, boasting an exceptional ecological and residential environment.
Wanzhong Qujiang Liuguang Yungu constructs pioneering architecture with arcs, facing the sky of the era head-on through curves. It weaves dreams with the rhythmic curves of the ocean, composes poems with the flowing rhythms of clouds, and narrates the infinite possibilities of architecture through light, dynamic curved vocabulary. Drawing inspiration from the flowing beauty of porcelain curves, the building's exterior displays the postures of flowing light, drifting clouds and running water, exuding an elegant and romantic temperament. Taking "light" as the creative brushstroke, it leverages the fluidity of light to create fluid architectural aesthetics—delicate, curved, artistic and exquisite—transforming the building into pure white clouds between heaven and earth, blurring the boundaries of the structure.

With simple colors and light, dynamic lines, Qujiang Liuguang Yungu takes "light" as the creative brushstroke and integrates the lingering flow of Han and Tang cultures, creating fluid architectural aesthetics—delicate, curved, artistic and exquisite. It dissolves the building into nature, weakens its sense of heaviness and blurs its boundaries. The carefully selected materials for the facade showcase the artistic demeanor of Liuguang Yungu. Adopting a minimalist color palette, the facade uses iridescent pearl-white aluminum composite materials for creative expression. Precious gold softens the noble luster of pearls, generating a gentle and exquisite design sense that perfectly realizes the design intention.
These curves are soft, smooth and vivid, light and translucent, elegant and distinctive, presenting a diverse and changing appearance. Breaking through conventional architectural forms, they bring a unique architectural beauty and visual impact, while endowing the building with more creativity and vitality.
