Chongqing Science Hall

1 (51)

Situated in Chongqing's High-Tech Zone, the Chongqing Science Hall spans 346,000 m² and was designed by East China Institute of Surveying and Mapping.

Blending traditional Chinese timber-frame wisdom with futuristic technology, the structure embodies a "mountain-water pavilion" concept through undulating rooftops and U-shaped colonnades. The façade features anodized honeycomb aluminum panels (150,000 m²), including 20,000+ units—2,000 of which are doubly curved and interlocked at corners with 5–6 panels per unit, achieving seamless water-ripple textures via parametric design.

Corner elements employ UHPC-clad columns for durability and aesthetic cohesion. The hall utilizes a triple-layer 72m-span steel truss system to create 13,000 m² column-free exhibition spaces and integrates magnetic levitation centrifugal compressors for 40% energy savings. Recognized for its "one-venue-multi-use" flexibility, it hosts conferences, exhibitions, and forums, including global AI and quantum computing events.
