Guangzhou South Railway Station broke ground in December 2004 and officially entered service on January 30, 2010. As of 2019, the station boasts a total construction area of 615,000 square meters—with the main station building accounting for 486,000 square meters—and a total investment of 1.3 billion yuan. Its yard features 15 platforms and 28 railway lines. From the ground up, the station is structured across four floors:
B1 Floor: Subway stations and parking lots
1F: Station entrances/exits and ticket purchase areas
2F: Elevated platforms and east drop-off zone
3F: Elevated waiting area and west drop-off zone
