Chengdu East Railway Station boasts a total floor area of 220,000 square meters, with 107,000 square meters dedicated to passenger facilities. The station covers an expansive site area of 867,000 square meters.
Built on the former site of the old Shahebao Railway Station, construction of the new Chengdu East Railway Station officially kicked off in December 2008. After nearly three years of development, the station opened to the public and began operations on May 8, 2011.
